APOEL Nicosia have finished the regular season in Cyprus' top tier as the league leaders, four points clear of second placed AEK Larnaca. Boss Thomas Christiansen will now hope his side can continue that form into the Championship round of fixtures, whilst finding a way through their cup quarter final against AEK as they go in search of a domestic double.

Schalke 04 vs. Borussia Monchengladbach

Schalke will host Borussia Monchengladbach for their Europa League 8th finals and their second of three clashes in just 12 days, hoping to now secure a home win (priced at 5/4 with BetVictor) and earn a sizeable advantage ahead of the return match at Borussia Park.

They’ve largely improved their form since the New Year and now look a very tough squad to beat both at home and on the road.

Nonetheless, they have had troubles at the back and haven’t been able to keep a clean sheet against stronger sides, which will be a worry for Dieter Hecking. We now fancy both sides to find the net and we’ll back a Yes on Both teams to score at 3/4 with bet365. Despite a poor series of results, Schalke have netted five goals in their last five outings and they’ll be highly motivated to make this match count if they want to make it into the quarter-finals.

Celta Vigo vs FK Krasnodar betting tips

Celta Vigo ousted strongly-fancied Shakhtar Donetsk in the previous round of the Europa League and will now fancy their chances of seeing off another team from the former Soviet Union.

With Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal bowing out two weeks ago, it is now down to Celta Vigo to uphold Spanish pride in the Europa League which has been won by their La Liga rivals and Champions League hopefuls Sevilla for the last three seasons.

The portents for Eduardo Berizzo’s side did not look good when they lost 1-0 at home to Shakhtar. But they did brilliantly to turn it around in the Ukraine, hanging in there until getting a last-gasp penalty which Iago Aspas converted to send the tie into extra time and then a goal from defender Gustavo Cabral won it for the Spaniards.

It was a fully deserved victory in Lviv because Celta were the better team throughout and as Spanish clubs usually take the Europa League a bit more seriously than their counterparts from some of the other top football countries, they could be a tough nut to crack for the remainder of the competition.

FK Krasnodar, meanwhile, got past Fenerbahce in the round-of-32 thanks to a 1-1 draw in Istanbul having edged the first game 1-0 at home.

And they did so despite having much less recent match practice than their opponents as they were still on the Russian winter break, from which they resumed with a creditable 2-2 draw against league leaders Spartak Moscow at the weekend.

Celta’s latest result was much less impressive, losing 5-0 at Barcelona, but they are in a position where it makes sense to focus on Europe as a potential route into the Champions League next season.

There is plenty of water to go under that particular bridge first, of course, but the Sky Blues can take another important step by claiming a first-leg advantage against their Russian visitors.
