Nice are enjoying a fantastic season and look good value to stay hot on the heels of Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain by winning away to Marseille.

Les Aiglons (which translates to the Eaglets) are guaranteed a shot at the Champions League next term for they will finish no worse than third in Ligue 1 and still have a chance of capturing the title if the big two slip up.

Lucien Favre’s side were top of the table between weeks six and 19 of the campaign and while the midwinter period was not so productive, they have bounced back very well and enjoyed an excellent 3-1 win at home to PSG last weekend.

Mario Balotelli continues to enjoy a career revival on the French Riviera with 16 goals – and admittedly three red cards – this season, and he has made a valuable contribution to Nice’s excellent recent run which has kept up the pressure on the teams ahead of them.

Although they have drawn a lot of matches on their travels, Nice have a strong defensive record on the road (see stats below) and it is difficult to see why they are such a big price for this game.

In fairness to Marseille, they are also proving difficult to beat just now and are battling with Lyon and Bordeaux to finish fourth, although all of that trio are on course to qualify for next season’s Europa League.

The only way that is likely to change, barring a late surge from St Etienne, is if Angers beat Paris Saint-Germain in the French Cup final, but you can get odds of 17/2 with the bookmakers about that happening.

A gap of 22 points between these clubs in the table highlights just how much better Nice have been over the campaign, and it really does make their price for this match too good to pass up.
